The phrase good enough isn't in our lexicon. We’re here to ensure your masterpiece is everything you intended and deserve. That requires placing equal focus on both the micro and the macro — from the first eye-arresting shot down to the last pin drop.
We recognize that no matter how great your footage looks and sounds, it also has to track on a story level. Numerous takes on set enabled by today's digital technology often reveal story options that diverge from the script. We can help you explore those options in post-production so that you fully realize your vision. Ideally, post-production input begins even before the camera rolls, starting with the first table read. We’re ready to step in and help at any point in the process.
Music with just the right emotional resonance, the meticulous application of effects, the perfect color balance — the cumulative impact of these and other post-production details can separate a merely okay piece of work from a truly great one. At Effie Street Filmworks perfectionist is not a pejorative term. We give the same close attention to detail on all projects, whether it be a two-minute public service announcement or a two-hour movie.
Shawn founded Effie Street Filmworks in 2003. Cecily came on board in 2017 to help launch a sister company, Effie Street Creative. They've been going strong ever since.
One of the first movies to screen in theaters during COVID-19. The Broken Hearts Gallery's message of hope and perseverance inspires us daily in these challenging times.
The LA Times dubs The Broken Hearts Gallery "a big, juicy rom-com, a rarity these days on the big screen," while Variety says that "it pushes all the rom-com buttons but does it knowingly, with a spirit that embraces killer cynicism and then comes out the other side."
VEEP snagged two Emmy nominations for editing in 2017. A very good year.
Mozart in the Jungle took the Golden Globes by storm in 2016. An exhilarating moment we were thrilled to be part of.
During NYC's COVID peak, Shawn had the honor of Zoom-guest-teaching a film-focused narrative medicine class to Columbia University medical students alongside Professor Maura Spiegel, an old friend from Shawn's undergraduate days at Bennington College.
Running into this guy during awards season is always the highlight of Shawn's year. He and Pete were scrappy nonentities when they met in Bennington College's theater department. Here's to the art of the possible!
Better representing diversity onscreen requires bringing more diverse people into the creative process, including women. At Effie Street we do more than pay lip service to that idea. We live it.
